More than a unique definition, what we intend here is to provide resources that can contribute to solidifying a community of meaning among alternative/radical/citizens' media activists, producers, artists, and academics. Defining “alternative media” raises three main questions :

1. What do we mean by medium, communication, journalism ?
2. How can these "alternative" media be named or qualified ?
3. How can these "alternative media" be defined ?
